...For us to work on together and cruise around in!
The car is an absolute blast, and nearly complete. It needs some work, as most cars do, but it runs beautifully. RWD, lightweight, manual, roadster. What more could you want?
I'm excited to get it into even better condition, and make it a real Sunday driver!

That is really cool to work on a project with your gramps!

That car looks great! I'd love to pick one of these up in the future to tool around it. Lots of fun could be had.

First read "grandma" for some reason as was like "wow, what a cool grandma".
But either way, your grandpa sounds legit for that too.

Hahaha, she's cool too, she's had her fair share of cool cars.
Thanks, man!

Took it for a drive, today. So fun! I would definitely recommend it.

I know! I really wanted to, primarily to learn more about the basics of working on cars and spend some time with him. It should be fun.

The best part is to get to spend time with him!
My grandpa was too old to do stuff like that with me when I was old enough to do it and he was still alive. That would have been really cool to restore a car with him before he got too wobbly to do that kind of work!

I'm sorry to hear about that. I really do feel fortunate to know my grandfather in his 60s, and to get to spend that time with him.

Thank you! I actually was blessed because he lived a really long time. He was just already older when my mom was born because she was from a big family and not the first or second kid. And she didn't have me until she was 29.
He actually lived until he was 93! He was just already in his 80s by the time I was old enough to have any money to buy a project car and work on one. We still hung out a lot though. I took him on a cruise when he was in his late 80s. He walked really slow and my and my sis had to always watch out so he didn't fall while walking. But it was totally worth it and the best thing we ever did!
That is awesome your grandpa is in his 60s. That's super young. You guys should have plenty of years to hang out and work on cars!

Sweet :) those things sound like an absolute hoot. Which engine have you got in it? It looks like an A-Series rather than the later Triumph engine, but which one?

It's a '71, so I believe it's the detuned 54.5 horsepower one.

Ah, the A-Series is a tunable engine in whichever guise you get it. Moreso than the 1500 Triumph one anyway.
54.5bhp is certainly enough to have a good time, but it's great fun to try and eke out more :)

Exactly, and there's so many parts for the Mini and A-Series engines, it shouldn't be hard to squeeze some power out of it.
